Prompt Pad: What Are Open-Weight Models?

When people call an AI model "open," they don't always mean the same thing.

On this week's Prompt Pad, @rosendo_pili breaks down open-weight models using Google's Gemma as an example.

The difference

An open-weight model gives you the trained model itself. You can download it, run it on your own machine, and fine-tune it for your project.

Open-source asks for more. It means the full recipe is available to study, change, and share: the code, and for AI, details like the training data and process.

Your Turn

What would you build with a model that never has to leave your laptop? 👇
